The Wisdom of Solomon also called the Book of Wisdom is an Old Testament apocrypha, written in Greek, composed in Alexandria, Egypt. It is generally dated to the first century before Christ. The central theme to the gospel is wisdom, its relation to man, wisdom as a righteous gift from God, and why wisdom is the path to God. King Solomon was a King of Israel who succeeded his father King David to reign from 970 to 931 BC.
According to the Jewish Talmud Solomon is one of 48 prophets. In the Quran Solomon is a major prophet and Muslims generally refer to him by the Arabic name Sulayman, son of David. In the New Testament Solomon is referred to as a teacher of wisdom (Matthew 12:42, Luke 11:31). In all three of these major religions, Solomon is considered among the wisest of men to have ever lived.
